1.)  Started piano lessons at age 7

a. took lessons 4 years and then switched to drums

2.)  Started drumset lessons in 4th grade and by 7th grade started playing the xylophone and receiving mallet lessons

3.)  By 7th grade very into jazz—Dave BrubeckÕs group—especially loved Paul DesmondÕs alto sound

a. Started my own jazz quartet in 7th grade—ÒHarmonic Series Jazz Quartet (alto sax, piano, bass and drums)

b. this group continued into our senior year in High School—renamed ÒFree Mode Jazz QuartetÓ and later, Quintet, with the addition of a trumpet
